Mestalla brimming with emotions running high
Relive the emotional events that took place in the run-up to Valencia CF-Real Betis to pay tribute to the victims and those affected by the tragic flash floods
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy gave his thoughts on the 1-1 draw away to LOSC Lille in a post-match interview with Spanish television channel Movistar Liga de Campeones, and was resolute in his belief that the next two home games will be of huge importance to the team.
“We suffered a lot. Everybody saw the game. The important thing is that we have two home games coming up against LOSC Lille and Chelsea FC, which we need to win in order to go through. We need to learn from this game and look ahead,” assessed the club president.
“Football is never fair; sometimes you can play badly and win, while sometimes you play well and lose,” Murthy said. “This is an important point. We have four now, we have two home games left and we need to win them in order to progress.”
“The team are in good shape. There are always mistakes, but you have to learn from them and improve,” he added.
There will be little time for reflection, as coming up is a trip to El Sadar to play Osasuna on Sunday night.
“I’ve been told that Osasuna haven’t lost at home in their last 27 games, so it’s going to be a difficult one. I think that Rodrigo will be fit for that game. He’s an important player, but we have a squad of very important players. Everybody deserves their spot in the squad. We have brave players who are prepared to win every game,” the president concluded.
